Our clients Low Energy Designs have achieved sales of $3 million dollars – with customers as far afield as Germany and Nigeria. At their base on the Coppi Industrial Estate, in Rhos, near Wrexham, they make cutting edge lighting that uses Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs).

What sets them apart from the competition is the management software that means they can remotely control heat and brightness – from anywhere in the world. According to the company, that means they can keep energy costs even lower and prolong the useful life of their lighting systems so they last for 25 years – and possibly longer.

As a result, their clients can keep their carbon footprint to a minimum and reduce the amount they spend on lighting by between 50 and 80 per cent. At a time of soaring energy prices, they say there’s a huge amount of interest in their low-cost lighting.

The company is an offshoot of Barnett Engineering, a long established local firm that’s run by two brothers, Steve and Ian Barnett. They are providing the production know-how while fellow director Alan Parker is the technological brains behind the venture.

Alan Parker said: “The support and guidance we have had from Coxeys has been absolutely magnificent. Having their help has been vital in setting the company up. If you haven’t got the right advice it can be a bit of a minefield but Coxeys have made that aspect very easy for us.
The business advice from Gill Atkinson has been spot on and has ensure that the company has been set up on firm financial foundations supporting business growth. In between her visits, we can always pick up the phone and any issues can be sorted out immediately. It gives us peace of mind to concentrate on the things that we are good at.”
